Second Grader

Here she is.....

I took the picture this afternoon, just after her first day of 2nd grade. Unfortunately, I couldn't take one this morning before school with her backpack on and ready to go b/c there were too many tears. I didn't even try.

First, she refused to get out of bed, then she finally got out and sat on the floor of her room and refused to get dressed. But she finally did.

In the bathroom I had to brush her teeth as she cried. She wouldn't do it herself. After all the drama upstairs, by the time she came down there was no time to sit down for breakfast, so we grabbed a granola bar and jumped in the car. I think she ate one bite of it. Too nervous I guess.

I walked her in crying and she stopped when she sat down in her seat. I left and actually cried a few tears myself when i got outside. It's hard to see your child anxious and sad about something, and then have to leave them to fend for themselves.

Also, I think I was worried about the fact that her 2 best friends got in the same class (right next door to hers) and I don't want her to feel left out.

She had a great day and has a great teacher who is a former UNC student that we had met before. She came home happy, smiling with that front tooth missing, so cute.

Hopefully tomorrow there won't be any tears especially since starting tomorrow her little sister will be getting dropped off for Kindergarten!
